Why Chicago Should Host 2016 Olympics

Chicago, Illinois, home of gangsters, gangs and political corruption galore is also an amazing city with lots of beautiful things to see and a downtown which would be the envy of most towns. It is in the final round of voting over who will host the Olympics and there are a great number of reasons why Chicago should host the 2016 Olympics.

First, let's just consider the question of location and availability of facilities. Chicago is centrally located in the United States and already hosts one of the world's largest airports, O'Hare International. There would be absolutely no problem with offering the games to the city since people could easily fly in from everywhere in the world and would have access to reasonably priced flights. In addition, Chicago already has most of the venues that would be needed and which could easily be adapted for the events. They have two baseball stadiums (the Cubs' Wrigley Field and White Sox's U.S. Cellular field), a basketball stadium (the Bulls' United Center), a hockey stadium and an American football stadium to name just a few.

Let's also consider a moral point of view. Barack Obama is a Chicagoan through and through. The entire world breathed a sigh of relief when Obama was elected president and they felt that the Bush era was finally over. Wouldn't it be an appropriate thing for the world to pay tribute to the first black president of the United States by having the games in his home town?

Another important aspect of the Olympic games is the need to have adequate transportation for people to get around the town. The city of Chicago actually has one of the oldest and best public subway and bus systems in the United States (second only to the New York City Transportation system). In several visits to the city, I found that there was never a problem with getting wherever I wanted to get to and getting their in a reasonable period of time,

Also, given the economy in the Midwest, this would be a huge boost for the area and help to drag the United States out of the recession. While certainly much of the world is mired in problems, the recession began in the United States and I still maintain that it will be the United States that will help lead the world out of recession.

And frankly, if nothing else, the reason we why Chicago should host the 2016 Olympics is that it is one of the greatest cities in the world.

Looking for New York City trip transportation help?
I'm looking for an affordable way to get my sister and me to Brooklyn to see our cousin. We live just north of Boston. I tried to look up Greyhound tickets, but the only trips they offered take 6 hours and I know it only takes 4. Also, I looked up Limoliner times which were great but WAY too expensive (89 each one way). I am willing to drive as far as Hartford, CT to get on a train if need be. But, I don't know what commuter rail line or station to look up. Obviously I want the least amount of train switching as possible. My cousin said he could meet us at Penn Station or a station in Brooklyn. Any help would be appreciated. Living in a town in Massachusetts leaves me with barely any knowledge of New York City transportation.

16 year old travelling alone to new york city- transportation help?
Hey So recently I got accepted to NYCDA (new york conservatory of dramatic arts) summer program (which is a massive dream come true btw) anyway, so I'm 16, and welll I live in Singapore but I'm in India right now cuz its my summmer holidaaays and I'm from India so yeah. And basically, the thing is, the only thing stopping me from going there is my dad :// he's very protective of me,and he doesnt feel that its right / safe that I travel alone, etc. I mean, I compeltely understand where he's coming from, but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity you know. And I've travlled alone tonnes of times before to other countries, but I myself have never been to America, and my dad is worried about the daunting prospect of me managing my luggage all alone, facing the wrath of the immigration people who'll probably be bombarding me with like 8240149 questions, and then the worst, (well in his opinion), how I get myself to school. The school told us all about the new york cabs and how theyre all there at JFK and its very easy for me to take a cab and just go and its safe etcetc, but my that is what my dad is worried about hes like "yeahh kay new york is safe i guess whatever but how will you manage ur self all the way ffrom the airport, and doing all the formalities, and then GETTING yourself to the damn school, as a 16 year old girl, trvelling alone all the way to america from singapore/ or india (depends) for the first time. now hes completely right...which I hate to admit...and I was wondering if ANY of you could help me or give me some options or SOMETHING to help me change my dads mind. he even said that none of his collegues are in nyc right now........which might or might not be true. maybe hes just using that as an excuse :// but idk. can anyone help me? please? sorry i wrote so much...just wanted to make things clear. idk what sort of answers to expect......but SOME guidance or help would be amazing. please. this is my dreaaam. I HAVE to go. thankyouu soooooo much x Ah thankyou to those whove answered already 1) my dad cant travel with me..there are loads of reasons. He is in a very high post in a multinational company and like really cant make it, and I wouldnt want him to jepordize anything in any way. and yeah we know everything about flight details, etc. we've travlled alot so we know all that. we were wondeirng if someone could help us with what to do once imm IN new york? like is there any unacccompanied minor type thing. or like. an escort of somesort or whatever..that can lead me / help me with immigration and everything and help me to get to a taxi or limo or whatever 2) im not staying at a hotel. I''ll be reisidng in a dorm (: thankyouu and yeah I really do hope I can go!!
