5 Cheap Romantic Getaway Ideas

Do you need some quality time with your significant other? Do you need to get away from all the phone calls and demands of everyday life? Then lose yourself for a night at one of these cheap, romantic getaways:

Captain's House. Book a one-night stay at the Captain's House, right off Lake Granbury in Granbury, Texas. You will feel as if you are in complete romantic seclusion at this famous bed and breakfast. According to their website, this bed and breakfast ranks among the Top Fifteen in North America. A room here costs just under $200 (with tax and all), and this includes a gourmet breakfast delivered to your room. Though the rooms are a bit pricey, you can enjoy the quiet that you get at this romantic getaway. Plus, you can sit out on the Victorian balcony and enjoy some lemonade as you look out onto the water. The Captain's House even has a trail that runs down to the water, where you can sit and watch the ducks float by. This bed and breakfast offers lots of romance for the price.

Mulberry Manor. Mulberry Manor, located at 1400 Sam Houston in Sweetwater, Texas will romance you with lots of history. This bed and breakfast served as Sweetwater's first hospital. It was also the home of the Chennault family (of American history fame) before the lady from across the street purchased this home and turned it into a bed and breakfast. When you enter this beautiful home from the front, you actually enter what used to be a chapel. A real, fruit-bearing banana tree also grows (or at least grew) in the midst of this room. Just behind the chapel, you can see a bedroom with lowered shutter windows. This room used to be the baby nursery, where the nurses would open the shutters so that viewers could touch the babies. So, book your getaway now and soak up some of the history that this historic home holds. Call 325-235-4969 for pricing and reservations. Be careful, though. Rumor has it that some of the rooms are haunted.

Inn on the River. You can enjoy a night of romance in the sleepy little town of Glen Rose, Texas for about $150 (with tax). The Inn on the River serves its patrons a gourmet breakfast in the dining room each morning, included in the room price. Once you pay for your room, you won't have to spend anymore money because this location is set just off the old town square, so you can walk on over and discover some of Glen Rose's town history as you browse the shops. When you get tired of sight seeing, you can walk on back to Inn on the River and set out under the trees for a bit of romantic talk. The Paluxy River runs through the back of this property, too. The good news is that you can smoke outdoors, according to innontheriver.com, and the better news is that they also stipulate that no children under the age of 16 are allowed at this establishment, which helps with the romantic conditions.

Coleman Budget Inn. If you want a sweet, clean place to stay without all the fanciness, then this is the place to go. Budget Inn is located just on the edge of Coleman, Texas, and it offers plenty of quiet in this small retirement town. A couple can experience a romantic stay here for less than $50 per night. Plus, the Coleman Park is just down the road, so you can go for a nature walk down to the creek that runs through the back of the park. When you tire of watching the ducks, you can go for an afternoon swing. The park's picnic facilities are nice, so you can eat before you visit Coleman's historic, pioneer museum, also located in the park. This motel does not serve meals, but you can visit the local Dairy Queen for some good eating. This getaway is perfect for getting away, while having everything you need at hand.

Dublin Shamrock Inn. If you want to land in nowhere, Texas, you can do it for some of the cheapest rates around when you stay at the Dublin Shamrock Inn in Dublin, Texas. This sleepy little town serves as home of the Dublin Dr. Pepper, the original Dr. Pepper recipe made with Pure Cane Sugar. You can take your significant other down to the local soda fountain (located at the original Dr. Pepper plant) for a taste of nostalgia, and then the both of you can tour some of the local wineries. After that, you can hole up in your room and enjoy the romance of being out in the middle of nowhere. If you decide to take some Dublin Dr. Pepper home with you, save some money by purchasing a case of Dr. Pepper from the local grocery store down the street. You can pay regular price there, just as you would pay for any other Dr. Pepper. Be sure to ask for the Dublin Dr. Pepper, though.
